Roadworks - what does this mean

My estate has 5 phone cabs on it, 3 have had FTTC cabs added to them, 2 are still waiting.

I noticed this on Roadworks:

Install 2m of 2 poly ducts in Footway,Install 5m of 2 poly ducts in Carriageway

Just wondering why there is no mention of installing a DSLAM?

Why would anyone "outside" need to know the details of what is going in the ducts? It is potentially commercially sensitive information too...

The work for the 3 other cabs detailed the basing of a cab, just wondering why this didn't... wondered if instead of basing a cab it would share the other FTTC cab which is less than 100m away.

Phone cabinets do not share FTTC ones. An FTTC cabinet is dedicated to a single PCP.

Maybe the work to put in the base is not booked yet

You are probably right MrSaffron, there was talk of people being relocated to an alternative cab

Because it's crossing a road so will need traffic control that job needs more notice than building a DSLAM would.

It may also not be related in any way to NGA.

Agreed, we have a similar roadworks job about to start between our exchange and our home which is down as "Safe Access to Underground BT footway and carriageway boxes for fibre cabling and jointing works in existing duct. Required for new customer connection" its also down with "Some carriageway incursion" and that was submitted a month before the work was due to start.

Also saw this on the roadworks site:

Build 3 concrete chamber 915mm x 445mm x 965mm deep in Footway,

Install 15m of 8 poly ducts in Footway,
Install 22m of 5 poly ducts in Carriageway,
Install 25m of 1 way poly duct in Footway,
Install 4m of 5 poly ducts in Fo

It might of had more but the rest was cut off, but all down as one job, sod doing all that LOL.
