Another 'whats happening with the cab' question

I have a friend who is on a long line and is chomping at the bit to get faster speeds.
They're on cabinet 8 supplied from the Askern exchange (SLASK)
What I've been able to find out so far:
* The cabinet is due to be upgraded in phase 4 of the Superfast SouthYorkshire roll-out, which is June to September 2016
* The Openreach website list the cabinet as 'Enabled area' but the "cabinet is not ready yet"
* The BT ADSL checker says that "At this time we cant provide a delivery date for this cabinet."

So I gather that the cab will be upgraded, but it's a question of when.
Is there a way to find out a little more about whats happening, or even where the cabinet is to look out for activity?
And will the OR website be reflecting the same info as the SFSY website?

However, it does mean that an FTTC line will probably be just as bad (approx 2km line from the cab). What are the chances of fttp happening there?

Probably unlikely due to I think that exchange doesn't support FTTP going by "Fibre: FTTC 26th July 2012", but I might be wrong.

Sorry to resurrect this from the depths of the archive. Well, OK, not that sorry...
I'm still trying to find out whats happening with this cabinet (cab 8, exchange SLASK).

Update:
* The Openreach website says that the cabinet is being 'connected'. It's said that for about 3 months
* There were some roadworks near it about a month ago to clear ducting
* Superfast South Yorkshire are saying it's 'In Progress'
* DSL checker still saying it's unable to provide a date.

Basically, how long does it take to connect a cabinet?
Also, how long is a piece of string?

Can take anything from a week or two if everything slots into place nicely...to a few years e.g. where power was an issue due to cost/wayleave or some other oddity

If the road works were not part of the original plan, it probably means the team blowing fibre (if it was fibre ducting) will add it to their job list, i.e. all depends on how busy teams are in the area.
