New FTTC speed drop issue 3-11pm everyday?

Hi,

I have had FTTC 40/10 from Hometelecom for just over 2 weeks. The speed is great 37-38mb on speedtests during the day before 3pm and after 11pm but at specifically 3pm-11pm every day/weekend the speed drops anywhere from 10-24mb? The upload is un effected at 7-8mb.As soon as it hits 11pm on the hr it goes back to 37-38mb? My ip profile is 38.71 as that shows on the tap 2 diagnostics but I can't see my line stats as I'm using the ECI focus BT Open reach modem and the rubbish technicolour 582n router. I've been told to do a tap 3 test as they say BT won't do anything until I do? I can't seem to connect using the speedtest@speedtest_domain username? As the router won't connect? Do you have to keep the password blank with the speedtest@speedtest_domian? Is there anyway we could cance/get out of the the 12 month contact as it's past the 2 weeks and maybe go with BT or Sky as we're not happy customers? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like a hot vp issue.

If the timing is precise then more likely suggests traffic management by the ISP.

Yes it's precise at exactly at 3pm-11pm every day then fine? So guess they traffic mange, which they say they don't? They said unlimited downloads, with no caps or restrictions? What is a hot vp? Sorry not clued up on this haha

Apologies, was a quick scan, missed the bit about it being bang on the hour at 11pm that speeds return. Definitely sounds like some sort of traffic management

'unlimited' where some degree of traffic management is allowed
'totally unlimited' where there should be no traffic management at all

Thanks Andrew. We have an email when we signed up saying

� Totally unlimited downloads

� Fastest speed available

� Up to 40mbps upload speed

� No hidden caps or restrictions

So looks like they contradict themselves and are breaking the contract?

40meg upload speed? If it's true they said that, they seem quite a shoddy outfit!
