Fibre - what is supplied

[link to this post]

I am due to have fibre installed next week from UNO.I was under the impression that BT would supply a modem into which I could connect my existing Billion 780DXL. I know the modem part of it would no longer be used.

I have a feeling I am wrong on this and will need some sort of fibre modem.

Could someone enlighten me please

You'll get nothing from Openreach. Are ou on a long line from the exchange? Or are you classing your long line as from the cabinet?

Don't think it matters, haven't Openreach stopped supplying modems? Or is is at the end of this month?

Yeah 31st March, I knew it was soon.

Still depends if the OP has booked a managed install or not.

It is both really, but the cabinet is nearer. I am encouraged by my neighbour a further 100m up the road who is getting 7Mb

From the response here and elsewhere it seems that OR will supply something similar to the ADSL faceplate, so to cover myself I have ordered a Billion 8800NL which seems to be the one suggested on the lower end of the price range.

I assume you will be getting an Openreach modem then as you ordered it before the end of this month (the cut-off date)

Your ISP will be able to tell you for sure..

That is what I thought, but apparently not. Its UNO so probably only applies to BT
