Effects of PhyR Setting on Zyxel Gateway

G.INP appears to have been rolled out to my local ECI cabinet during the past week as I now see 49 symbols of downstream INP applied.

I have also lost around 1.5Mbps of downstream sync along with 0.5db increase in SNR margin.

I have a setting on my Zyxel gateway (SBG3300) to switch on/off upstream and downstream PhyR. This does not appear to make much difference for short term testing.

Has anyone else views on this or experimented with this setting?

IIRC, PhyR is the Broadcom-specific precursor to the standardised G.INP. Settings for PhyR don't affect G.INP, or vice-versa.

If PhyR in the Broadcom based Router is BroadCom specific and the cabinet (Huawei 288) is also Broadcom based, will it make any difference under that scenario?

BT aren't making use of Broadcom's implementation of PhyR at all. Just G.INP.
