It annoys me that they say it's not 'commercially viable', yet running gigabit speed trials before we're connected. GRR.

Yeah, but at least you have BDUK, we live in London and only have the Commercial Rollout that I have been fold we are still part of and that FTTP take longer than FTTC, but in my eyes FTTP doesn't take over 4 years to install, a couple of months if that.

And to make things worse we cannot even get VM here, its everywhere all around us but just not here, no Hyperoptic, nor any gigaclear nothing.

All we have is ADSL2+ that goes up and down more times than I can count LOL

Unfortunately not, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Salford, and Kingston upon Hull all lack BDUK funding.

If you've got Virgin Media everywhere around you it might be worth registering your interest and getting your neighbours to do the same considering the big infill project ('Project Lightning') they're currently embarking upon.

Hyperoptic are only an option for us because our building is big enough and I, as cringey as it was to do so, went door-to-door getting people to register their interest, then spent roughly a year poking my building management and liaising with HO to get things through.

Virgin Media will never be in my area due to our area being a conservation area so no cabinets allowed.

Hyper Optic only install into flats and new housing estates that are being built, ours is neither due to it being an house.

So you can see the issue here cant you

As for Birmingham I think it has had BDUK funding in some places.

Yes, believe Brum's funding was for two areas of the city centre, but for commercial not residential.

B31 said they did but only for commercial.

As for Virgin Media, no chance, people round here would still say no to the cabinets, they have nothing to loose due to they already have FTTP, just the lower half of our road has all the hardware installed, but just no fibre.

Our conservation area is that strict we cannot even get PVC Windows or Doors on the front of our houses, and the windows need to look like sash windows and have a Victorian style doors.

Also we have been fobbed off by VM, I got fobbed off and lied to by them for several months and when I when to complain to them I was laughed at and hung up on, so I certainly wont go with them.

Have I got any other options? I can't stick another 18 months or more with this service, was getting 0.3 download speed last night. FML.

Ouch, well whenever I speak to BT or BTOR giving them all my details etc I get told that I am still down for FTTP which is still being upgraded but at a slower pace due to the weather, yep, they blame the weather, the funny thing is the weather doesn't slow them down doing FTTC work in the area, it seems that it only slows down the work for all the Commercial FTTP upgrades on my exchange.

Funny that isn't it BT
