Also, it makes no difference whether you're on an ECI or Huawei cab, too.

why is there a NDA on this?

openreach have a monopoly its not as if there is a competitor to take advantage of it.

Also is the NDA openreach side or the CP side?

Was there ever an official declaration about the BT Wholesale ADSLx one getting 3dB?

There isn't an NDA. I'm just not sure what I'd be allowed to say. I don't know what's in the public domain and what isn't, best to only say what people will figure out of their own accord.

But back to the SNR, it can be 3dB, 4dB or 5dB. It doesn't have to jump right down to 3. It'll depend on the line. Obviously if your line is already on 10dB or higher it seems unlikely you'd ever see any benefit from this trial, DLM won't suddenly reduce the SNR to under 6 just because you happen to be in a trial area.

I don't believe there was, no.

thanks for confirming on the NDA.

In terms of what you are allowed to say obviously I wouldnt say anything because it seems an industry wide expectation to keep all this hush hush, and you dont want to lose your job over it.

I guess that if the 3dB (4dB, 5dB) setting causes trouble and people raise a fault, it will be removed and the 6dB setting will be re-instated in much the same way that the g.inp ECI rollout was

IIRC my 6dB SNRM never goes above 6.3dB and rarely as low as 5.9dB. Seems to sync at 6.1dB

On ADSL2+ it varied by ~3.5dB over every 24 hours, with the phone in use taking another 1.5dB.

Not on a 3db SNRM.

But today I noticed my attainable rate had gone up to 75000kbps, so done a reboot.

SNYC went up to 72187kbps from 65453kbps with the SNRM dropping from 6.4db to 4.8db. Attainable rate has now dropped to 65276kbps but SYNC and SNRM are unchanged.

FTTC connections are managed by Openreach. This has nothing to do with who your service provider is.

A 3dB target will not affect you (at present). With your short line the max achievable is up in the 80s and thus the 10dB reflects that.

Great question, I don't know the answer to it. Don't Sky use the super stable option though? Will just have to wait for reports from users to come in, and look out for Sky users.

sky use standard (the middle option), there is no super stable profile on FTTC.

But RobertoS has raised a very good question, as it would make sense for the DLM to be configured to not allow the stable profile to use a 3db snrm.

I couldn't be bothered searching to remind myself which system uses Standard, Stable and Super stable, and which uses Speed, Standard and Stable, but thanks smile. Now you say it I seem to recall OR is the latter, with BTW the former.

I think the answer to the question though will come out from stats turning up on the dslstats website. Possibly also on samknows, but we won't see many of those.
