Line no longer served by Cabinet, now listed as EO

Recently I've been helping out a friend sort out an ISP for his new home and he wants to go FTTC.

When I checked his line a few weeks ago it showed as being served by Cab 38, but by the time he went to order, this was changed to a waiting list.

TalkTalk told him they could provision ADSL now and then he could upgrade to FTTC when the waiting list was removed.

When i have checked for him this morning his line is now listed as Exchange Only and no FTTC is available. this is the same on TalkTalk site, BT Wholesale and Digital Scotland BDUK site

If i change the search and use one of his neighbours in the same block of flats, their address shows as good to order.

Whats going on? Can a single line be "removed" from a cabinet?

TBH I think a few weeks ago it "might" of been as error, or maybe its an error now.

I have done some basic checks and it seems that numbers 124 to 131 are still EO Lines, it might be due to they are too far to be on cabinet 38 so they might be moved over to cabinet 25 which got fibre last month.

It says that postcode is covered by cabinet 25 for 48% of the lines and cabinet 38 for 51% leaving about 8 lines still as EO.

The thing is cabinet 25 was done as a BDUK Scot Government project where as cabinet 38 was done as a commercial project, so it would be a tad bit difficult to know who to contact, also they could both pass the buck to the other.

see this was done at a an address level check rather than a Telephone number check - the address element is not as defined as a telephone number no probably not changed aall -- probably your search not detailed enough to find the right answer

It's just that the cab is full and you have to wait for a port to become available.

If it was due to no capacity it would still show speeds but would have 'Waiting list' where it says Available

It might if there was no more room in the PCP Cabinet, and that might be the reason the 8 EO Lines was set back as EO Lines.

It seems that cabinet 38 is supporting 746 lines so it might be full, and cabinet 25 has 157 lines, so my guesses would be those remaining EO Lines may get moved to cabinet 25 or maybe a new cabinet next to 38 will be installed and they will get put on that.

Like I already said cabinet 25 was under the BDUK Soct Government project and cabinet 38 was under the commercial project.

So its all down to who will move those EO Lines.

Not if the PCP Cabinet was full and couldn't cater for the remaining EO Lines, they would go back flagged as EO Lines until there is a PCP Cabinet that has the space for them, like cabinet 25 that already caters for 48% of their postcode.

There have been odd flux states on the BT Wholesale checker where as cabinets change capacity status mention of availability has gone missing in the past...

This is true, I have seen some strange results when I use to do loads of checks on peoples exchanges where one test would say a line was on a cabinet then a few days later it was on a cabinet then a week later its back to EO Line, I have also seen lines disappear and then a few days layer reappear.
