SSE Talk Anytime Broadband & Calls package

I've been looking at changing from an EE Adsl 2+ anytime calls package as I'm out of the minimum term and SSE's current talk anytime with fibre broadband up to 76 Mbps for 18 months deal really caught my eye for value £21 p m.

Anyone already signed up for this offer, what are SSE like, and how do you rate the Technicolor router they provide?

I realise others may have an opinion, but I'm trying to get feedback/review from anyone actually with SSE or previously with them. Cheers.

The deal looks good so I have just signed with them for Ultrafast Fibre after being with Plusnet for many years. I am currently paying over twice as much for the same service. In addition I will get £131.30 cashback through Topcashback. In 18 months I will need to reevaluate my options.
As I am not yet connected (it's a week since I signed up with them and they say three weeks to connect), I don't yet know how the service behaves, but I will report back when I have more information. Yesterday, I received my Welcome Pack.

Thanks for the reply rjh321, I look forward to reading how things go for you with SSE and I'll take a look at Topcashback, I've heard of those cash back deal things but never looked at any sites.

Progress so far - I received the free router today (no delivery charge either). It's a Technicolor TG589vac which is a combined dual band 802.11ac modem/router, quite an improvement on what I've got now.

I also received an email telling me that the service will start on 31st May and they will send an engineer that morning. I was surprised at that as I already have the same fibre package (80/20) so I phoned SSE. They have the usual wait to get through but they give you the option to phone you back, which I took. There was still a short wait when they phoned me back which I reported to the advisor and she promised that that would be looked into. Anyway, they like to send an engineer to ensure all is OK. Also, he will fit a newer master phone socket with the sockets side by side - mine are above each other. I'm not sure that's correct but we'll see what the engineer says.

So it's looking good at present. SSE seem to be on the ball.

Was there still a connection charge? I'm trying to work out if it applies to migrations as it isn't very clear.

Beware of usage capped 100GB per month say on T&C. I would avoid it.

Do you make these things up adslmax?

There is no such usage cap mentioned in their t and c.

They advertise their broadband as : Truly unlimited downloads � stream and download as much as you like

factors affecting the speed of data transfer and hence the amount of data that can

� To flex the network in the event of unusual demands in traffic or disaster
situations such as a network failure.
� To provide a 'quality of service' effect, meaning multiple applications running on
the same line interact with each other effectively, and use of high demand protocols
like Peer-to-Peer (P2P) doesn't swamp time-sensitive traffic such as online gaming or a
VoIP call.
Traffic types are identified in real-time based on a combination of port, source IP
address and DPI signature detection. This allows our network operator at any given
time to manage the network capacity and prioritise time sensitive traffic by reducing
the throughput of the other less time sensitive protocols

Wow, that looks like an unbeatable price for 18 months, less than £14 a month after cash back (Quidco is £130), including line rental with any time calls. I can't see any reason not to go for it once my Plusnet contract is up at the end of June. It's a shame you can't get it even cheaper without the any time calls, which I don't really need.
