Cancelling Fibre

Hi guys, newbie here.

I have Fibre Optic with EE and currently get speeds of 18 mbps. If I swap to 'standard' broadband with EE or possibly a new provider will I drop down to 7 mbps which is the quoted 'standard' speed for my area?

Not knowing how these things work I wasn't sure whether a BT engineer opens the cabinet and rips out my fibre connection if I don't pay the extra for Fibre.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Yes you are removed from the VDSL2 connection and connected back to the old exchange based ADSL2+ services so speed will drop to around the estimated 7 Mbps

And there was me thinking that they would just leave me connected & I'd get Fibre at ADSL prices - If only
