Im keepng an eye on the work currently being carried out which looks like FTTP being delivered to my village.
I have some queries about FTTP and what, if it is actually going to be delivered to us, is included as part of the service.
Currently we use a fixed wireless service (12MBit) which we use for our primary phone connection over VoIP, ie no BT phone line or account. If FTTP becomes a reality for us are we forced to have a BT account again with phone number and therefore line rental etc..??
Ideally if the FTTP connection is purely data only that would suit me to a tea. What do we get tied into? Are we forced to use BT as our ISP or is it open to other providers (eg Sky?)
Any comments on this from people in the know would be great,
Cheers!
