Cabinet Upgrade Check

[link to this post]

Can anyone help me in finding out any upgrade details about these cabinets at CH3 6DH and CH3 6DN?

Exchange CHESTER CENTRAL is served by Cabinet 45
Exchange CHESTER CENTRAL is served by Cabinet 82

Both cabinets are on a new build estate, Cabinet 82 is fibre enabled but out of capacity and Cabinet 45 is not fibre enabled. There's word that something will be upgraded but we are not sure what, both cabinets are on a new build estate.

Speeds are dire, <1.5mbps, most people here complain so we may look at co-funding if none of the cabinets are going to be invested in by Openreach.

Any help would be great.

Cheers,

As far as I can see there are several postcodes being moved from exchange Christleton (WNCHR) to Chester Central (WNCSC) Cabinet 45.

So cabinet 45 might be new so you may have to wait for it to be upgraded.

Apart from that, exchange Chester Central (WNCSC) seems to have most of its area fibred up already, leaving several cabinets waiting for fibre along with a dozen of EO Blocks still waiting.

I say contact either your ISP and enquire about it.

You are lucky your are covered by your exchange is upgraded by the Commercial and BDUK Projects so try contacting openreach and BDUK Cheshire for more information.

Well that's sort of true, you will need to get your developer to contact whoever is upgrading the area in question to get the ball moving.

Maybe somebody on here that went down this route or maybe the crowdfunding route can give you advise.

My developer is Redrow, I'm on a development called Regents Grange in Chester. Cabinet 45 seems to be the mystery!

Thought I'd give an update to this, I eventually got hold of the Programme Director at OpenReach who helped with this, he advised that Cabinet 82 will have additionally capacity by the end of December and that Cabinet 45 doesn't form part of their upgrade plans.

This then moved us onto a Community Fibre Partnership with BT, we engaged with OpenReach and got a quote of £6,700 to install Fibre to Cabinet 45. We had a total of 66 subscribers to the cause, 35 of those pledged a donation and applied for a BDUK voucher code to supplement the costs, we reached £19K for the installation, smashing the £6,700 target.

Over the last few weeks we moved into contract phase, however, BT had a look at our installation and due to the costs they deemed it commercially viable, as such they will pay all costs without our involvement. Cabinet 45 has now moved onto Design Phase on the OpenReach Superfast Checker!

As for the Developer, nothing... I dont know if they will engage with BT / OpenReach for further cabinets deployed or not? probably not.

If you want to learn about our process then feel free to give me a shout!

Cheers
