BT Smart Hub - Dropping connection

Hi

Went over to BT from Sky about a month ago. Last few days getting dropped connections on WiFi (don't use Ethernet). Never had any problems with Sky so happy its not 'wiring' or location of the box.

What do I need to do to get into the box and run some diagnostics to post ?

Why did you move?

Firstly this box drops out a lot if placed on a carpet or anywhere hot such as in sunlight.

Ok if you head over to
192.168.1.254
Click advanced settings
Click wireless
Enter the admin password (on the wireless card from the hub)
Enable the separate bands option. Turn it to on. This creates a new SSID named bthub6xxx-5
Now on the wireless channels for 5ghz and 2.4ghz change them from auto to something fixed.
I use channel 1 and 36 as an example.
Ensure you save the settings

Now connect every device that can support the 5ghz band to the -5 SSID.
Your devices will automatically go into the standard SSID which is slower so use the -5 where you can.

Now go back to 192.168.1.254
Select smart setup
Turn it off.

That fixes 99% of the drop outs over wireless.

Similar problems for me too with this new Home Hub 6 / Smart Hub (i have already implemented ukhardy07's suggestions). On a frequent but random basis (several times a week) the box is rebooting. The log indicates that this was initiated by "GUI/Button" action, but no one has been near the box to press the reset button or on to the router's IP address.

If it carries on i will be asking for a replacement box under warranty.
