Exchange only lines being routed through two cabinets

Has anybody ever seen exchange only lines routed through two cabinets?

Outside my exchange (Which is Kiveton) a ADSL and Fibre cabinet have appeared which I'm assuming is for fibre.

Further in the village there's a all-in-one cabinet that was installed for EO lines.

Just curious as I'm still waiting on fibre but no real updates anywhere

Likely to be for seperate EO bundles that come from the exhange.

No doubt that DP's close to the exchange will be routed via the PCP and those further away via the AIO

No such thing as ADSL cabinets, presume you mean a new standard PCP with no active hardware in it, and in that case yes not unusual, probably more common than all in one solutions.

Yeah, it happened on my cabinet that was a very old cast iron PCP which had a new PCP installed right next to it back in December 2014 and it has yet to be even used.

Our road uses 2 PCP cabinets 24 (mine and low part of road and side roads) and 39 (upper part of road and side roads) if you look carefully you can see cabinet 39 across the road

But yeah, BT installs new cabinets to replace the old ones but never seem to use it.
In our case BT might still be deciding whether to finish off the FTTP on my cabinet meaning that new cabinet might not be needed, or if they drop the remaining FTTP and give them FTTC then that new PCP will be needed.

This is just my assumption which could be wrong.

I also took a look in the new PCP cabinet some time last year when it was left open and all I saw was an empty cabinet with a back board rack and that was it.

Probably due for a deload-reload but short of jointers to do the work. Can't be too urgent. Probably old assemblies in the old cab that are fault prone or corroded.

As yours is primarily a FTTP area might confuse those in VDSL2 areas

There are loads of faults in that old cabinet, that's why most of us moved everything over to fibre including voice.

That's why I didn't go too much into it, just that we have had a new empty PCP cabinet sitting here for over 2 years and the possible reasons why.

But point taken.
