My In laws have suffered form very poor Broadband for years, less than 1mbps.
there line was on the Crathes exchange and was EO, unitl about a week ago.
the BT DSL checker shows it as on Crathes Cab2 (Cab 1 was only added last year right outside the exchange it was previously all EO) and the Digital Scotland checker shows that Fiber will be ready to order within 6 months.
BT checker does not yet give a speed range or a availability date.
Does anyone know if there is a way to find where this Cab is, so i can try ot estimate line length and whether or not they will get any decent bump in speeds by the end of the year.

2.8km as the crow flies, so obviously more by line length.
fat chance of them getting any FTTC soon

out of curiosity, how did you find out this information about Cab location?

In an ideal world there would be another cabinet added at AB31 5QU
Scotland does have a 100% superfast ambition for 2021 so this cabinet is not the end of the journey

that would be good, 1.4 km ling length to there should give them about 15mbps
luckily for them I work for a local WISP so they are on our network, downside is trees.
If they weren't family and knew the deal they wouldn't have been installed as the service is very variable because of the trees. I would not have felt comfortable installing a paying customer with that signal level

At 2.8km they could get a 1.5Mbps FTTC connection - obviously depending on the normal caveats, noise, actual length, wire gauge, other users...
Friends have a similar length line with an FTTC service which is reliable.

having mapped out where i think the line goes, the actual length is closer to 5km
