My BT fibre broadband ends on Monday the router for the new service has arrived and is a Technicolor TG588v v2 which unlike the BT Homehub5 doesn't have any Gigabit ports and no 5GHz wireless.
Could I get something more in the homehub5 league for a modest price if so any suggestions please?
[I believe BT want the homehub back]

Ah I find I have an old Home Hub 4 which has 1 ethernet port and dual band wireless but is this just for ADSL2?
I didn't know that BT Homehubs sold outside of BT - looks like HH5 is available from Amazon for about 60 UKP....

HH5 is not that amazing
TP-Link VR600 at £90-100 is a dual band all-in-one that should tick boxes for most people http://amzn.to/2lZLOcN plus has a Broadcom DSL chipset which is usually a good thing

[I believe BT want the homehub back] though bt may send a returns envelope, this is usually so they can show it has been disposed of responsibly.

I'll have to check but I think I paid them about £59 for this hub...
If so I should be able to keep it surely?

BT will ask you to return it, there is no absolute requirement to do so given you paid .

Checked and I didn't pay for it the charges were Infinity activation fees.
Looking through their Tariff T's & C's if you don't reach 12 months (I didn't because they changed the deal thus giving me a getout) they state they can make a charge and it looks like the minimum amount is what I could get a HH5 for from Amazon.
I'm not going to do that as Mr Saffron made a much better suggestion for a few squids more

Hope you don't mind asking this extra bit. On the Amazon link just before chckout on the TP-Link VR600 the usual "customers who bought this also bought this..."
https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/WiFi-Boosters/RE580D-Exte...
It's only a few quid more - is this a better deal? I may not need all it offers but may "grow into it"
