Letter from NI Broadband

Hi all

We are currently in limbo with fibre. 2 years ago a cabient was constructed close to our property however no one has been connected to it. It has been connected to the power grid

Since Christmas I have been enquirying what the delay is without really getting anywhere

Yesterday I received a letter from NI Broadband advising us that fibre was now available and our line could support 32 Mbps. Openreach website still says "Exploring Solutions"

When I contacted BT as suggested by the letter I was told the letter was incorrect

Given the letter has come from the body that oversees Fibre in Northern Ireland I am hoping it is just a matter of BT's database being updated than an letter sent out in error

Has anyone had a similar experience or can they advise further?

It would be for NI Broadband to check and chase with Openreach.

I reckon the letter is incorrect.

Cab 5 Seaforde exchange if you were to have a guess at what the issue was...

Funny that....someone on the BT community forums had the exact same guess.

No need for the sarcasim. I had previously been told I would notified when fibre would be available. I took this letter to be the notification

It was BT's decision to locate the cabinet where they have and it seems that they have located it in the wrong place.

It appears that their dated infrastructure is unable to accommodate the cabling the route they decided to take it.

There is another route they could have taken it and surely this should have been checked before they built the cabinet to ensure the cabinet was in the optimun location and that it could be connected

There was zero sarcasm in my reply. It was factual.

The cabinet has to be within 100m of the existing green PCP. So it wouldn't matter where it was physically located. There is obviously too much work involved to have the fibre brought to the cabinet, and therefore Openreach won't pay.

As was suggested on the other forums, your best chance is to continue down the community funded side and see how much funds are required to do the work, and see if that's something those connected to the cabinet can arrange.
