Line says FTTPoD ready - where can I get a quote?

[link to this post]

The BT checker now says my line is FTTPoD ready... where can I get a quote? (preferably online)

3 year contract, so if ordering as a consumer its 3 years pricing squeezed into two.

FluidOne seem to be one people can get quotes from, but to start with you happy to pay £1000+ install fee and £150-200 per month for that period of time?

Cost not so much of a problem as I work from my home office and connectivity is everything.

I got a quote from FluidOne.
Based on being 870m (band E) from the nearest node the price to install was £4500+VAT and price per month was £300+VAT for 36 months contract term.

Only Fluidone.com can offer an Openreach based 330/30 mbps FTTPoD service. They don't offer quotes online you will need to call them up for a custom quote. I've got the service on order, paying £300 pm and £3700 in construction/setup costs. See my thread here for more details

I thought asking for a quote is free before agreed to go ahead and if cancel after survey will be charged fee if I am correct?

RobertoS replied to your post at the site: You can't get a quote before you have had the survey. That's what you are missing .

Ah ok fair enough.

I deleted it because I wasn't sure I was right. Perhaps you can get a quote "Subject to survey", but that's a bit pointless if you are able to make a fair stab at the location of the nearest aggregation point and the probable routing from there to you. Then just look it up in the Openreach price list.

I say "probable routing" as the price list I think is based on radial distance. If the routing takes you into a higher rate I expect that would be the quoted figure. With the survey confirming there were no obvious costly problems.

Correct, getting a quote from Fluidone does not make you obliged to go ahead with the proposal. After getting the quote I umm'd and aaahhh'd for 5 weeks before I signed on the dotted line. However, as others have said, if you cancel after the order has been placed then you may be liable for any costs incurred by Fluidone until that point (eg survey) - except in the case of ECCs.

The Openreach Surveyor's report will determine if excess construction charges (ECCs) apply, these are charges on top of the one-off costs quoted. If you do end up with ECCs after a survey then you can cancel without penalty. Luckily I didn't end up with ECCs smile

Hello

I tried to get a quote from fluidone. They were unable to do anything for me because of being a private/residential customer. They said I needed to be a business/commercial customer in order to order fttpod or even get a quote.

How were you able to order fttpod or are you a business customer ?

Thanks

FluidOne only have business packages. They do not sell any residential packages. They may entertain the self employed, as I've been able to order services from such companies this way.
