Loss os Download Speed - New Router to blame ?

Been on BT Infinity 2 since March 2011 - never had less than roughly 75Mbps download speed.

Today I replaced my trusty Asus RT-N66U with an Asus RT-AC88U, a theoretically superior router. Download speed has dropped to roughly 55Mbps.

Is this likely to improve ie is it some sort of DLM like response to the router swap

Just got the TBB Sppedtest result for comparison with the one in the signature

Is that using the self same HG612 modem?

Yes, exactly the same. Just moved the lead coming "out of" the HG612 from the old router across to the new router along with one 1Gbps LAN cable to a multi-port switch that all my devices are conneted to

Also, just realised I did 2 full firmware upgrades on the new router along with several configuration changes which also restarted the router. So probably did several re-authentications in a relatively short space of time

That should be fine if you didn't power the modem off/on, but do I gather you can't see the line stats from the modem?

The BT Wholesale "advanced" test comes back with this

Download speedachieved during the test was - 55.07 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 40 Mbps-77.35 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.35 Mbps

You are correct though, I cannot see the line stats from the modem

Not what I would prefer to be doing at midnight but what the heck smile

I think the result in good is so far as it probably indicated the new router is not at fault - old router now only gets 55Mbps download too

Hmmm, I dunno. You can see it's not DLM as your IP Profile reflects your sync speed and that's fine.

Possibly noise ... Is the new router still powered up or the PSU plugged in? If so, power that OFF totally and then see if the result changes
