Coding of fibre 'pods'

Is there a known way to decipher what each 'pod' on fibre strung on poles is doing from looking at the code written on the outside. For example I am connected (FTTP successfully) to pod DAAGAFW and the pod next up the line towards the exchange is SDBCHWU.
Some are 'distribution points' (but what does that actually mean?) and some are not. Any thoughts?

DAAGAFW is fibre dp.
SDBCHWU is probably a spliiter node.
Manifolds begin with an M.
Aggregatoon nodes (note going to see them unless they are being worked on) begin with T

Imagine the topology of the Openreach fibre network as a tree with the aggregation node as the trunk, from here it splits to splitter nodes, and these in turn feed DP's (distribution points fairly accurately named IMHO) these then feed the manifolds, and from there the individual tubes feed the CSP's (customer splice points)

So it is just smaller and smaller trunks, branches twigs etc with the ONTE's as the fruit it bares.

There are however several different set ups, some with no DP nodes, with the new connectorised stuff there is no manifolds.

All these various points need an accurate record of their location, usage etc, and to this end they all need a unique identifier. The ID's you have described. If one has access to certain systems you could now identify the road you live in from the ID's you have provided.

Is it the case that a connection to a property can come only from a DP pod? There is a property just near me where the nearest pod is coded TT..., would they not be able to get a connection from that? What about a splitter pod, can they provide a connection?
