Much to my surprise, a second (H128) fibre twin has been installed this morning, depsite the first not even being live yet.
It's a BDUK funded cab and it's a new(ish) estate. Been building 9 years and still about 10 houses left to build.
Survey was done a while ago for the BDUK tender and only 120 or so lines active at the time, now closer to 250+
BDUK raised the issue with Openreach after the first cab was installed in March as I explained to them that a 288 cab would have been more suitable and would have been enough for all the homes connected to the PCP but they said wasn't possible.
Seems the BDUK have funded a second cab even though some of the postcodes didn't exist when the phase 2 contract was signed, I doubt OR would have funded the cab without the first even being activated.
Anyone seen anything similar?

BDUK do not fund capacity upgrades including 2nd cabinets, if that is what has happened

I know that, but as I said, the first cab isn't even live yet, it's still awaiting power, so it's not an OR funded, capacity driven cabinet.
I suspect that the BDUK have stumped up for another cab to provide capacity for everyone on the cabinet. It should have been a H288 that was installed in the first place but as I said above, the inital survey was done as the estate was expanding, so only about half of the total lines acive now, were active then.
Whitley Bay 63 for anyone who's interested.

it sounds like you are complaining in the way you've titled your post? If that's the case, I'm sure you would be complaining more if they hadn't installed a second cab

Not at all, just very unusual from what I gather...although I would like them to get the power sorted for the cab that's been there since early Feb

BDUK would not be funding a 2nd cab, that be entirely at ORs expense.
What may be happening is they have placed a cabinet in a new location before recovering the original.

Very strange indeed.

Never underestimate ORs ability to make a mess of things.

Oh fear not, I'm well aware

The 2nd cab is actually a community funded cab.

How strange.
Heard nothing about it. No one on our local fb group has ever mentioned it, everyone was just as surprised as me to see it go up on Saturday morning.

Not sure of your source?
Been advised the first cab was installed in the wrong place, and on land whose owner wanted to charge a silly annual amount for the wayleave (it was to be the original site but was the location was replanned)
So the new cab, is actually in the right place on a different land owners land(the developer), and the first will be removed in due course, so I'm told.

Which is what witchunt hinted at in an earlier post where he said "What may be happening is they have placed a cabinet in a new location before recovering the original." which makes me wonder why he then changed this to it being community rather than BDUK funded although community in this case could perhaps be the developer.

Not sure why I didn't see that... just checked the post was edited, perhaps I read the original before it was edited
Not too concerned, BDUK guys have said that the cab is still on schedule and this hiccup shouldn't cause any further delays
Just need damn Northern Power Grid to turn up!
P.s Definitely not Bellway, they wanted nowt to do with it. Remains a BDUK cab, just moved places 5 meters to the developers land, as opposed to the greed Duke of Northumberland's land.
