FTTP in West Midlands area

[link to this post]

Is there any FTTP somewhere in the West MIdlands area post code so I could move to other area. Cuckoo Oak could be my last FTTC this year before I can move my house from Telford to West Midlands area (that must have FTTP)

West Midlands is a big area https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/broadband-map#... shows the rough area with each dot being native GEA-FTTP

What's the obsession with FTTP?

What is your virgin connection allowing you to do that your FTTC didn't?

What do you expect FTTP will allow you to do that your Virgin connection won't?

If anywhere gets FTTP in Telford it'll be Wellington, they get everything first.

All the big industrial / office areas are well covered by Virgin, no need for it.

Of course we need it, FTTP is far more superior than Virgin Media's oversubscribed FTTC and it works. Why should you only have one high speed provider when you could have a choice.

Was told that Telford will not be planning future on FTTP. Only FTTC, G.Fast and FTTPoD for now.

Telford are expecting to roll out G.Fast by 2018.

FTTP is available for some areas of Telford. My address, TF2 near ASDA, Donington Wood; went live 2 weeks ago with FTTP, packages up to 300mb.

Look on 'superfast telford' or you can type in postcodes on

Looking at the information your exchange doesn't do FTTP, it only does FTTC and FTTPod.

Can you do a screen shot of what the DSL Checker displays for your address or phone number, you ca scribble out your address or phone number.

Well I just checked every address on cabinet 32 which the OP said they are on and The Openreach Checker says only FTTC.

Granted SamKnows says the exchange does support FTTP, sadly I am not going to check all ~9K NADKeys to find out LOL, but SamKnows has been wrong loads of times before.

My bad, I was looking at the wrong exchange LOL.

I found at least four addresses with FTTP on cabinet 32 on their exchange.

I also agree, but that data is at least 2 to 3 Months old and doesn't prove that somebody doesn't have FTTP.

Take a look at Ilford Central (LNILC) cabinet 24 (my Cabinet), it says the following:

Fibre: From 27th July 2011 Type: FTTC, FTTP, FoD
BT Exchange: Ilford Central Exchange Code: LNILC
Cabinet P24 FTTC being Built, live due by December 2017 Phase 18b Huawei E12 5AA

Yet I have FTTP, so its possible, all I can say is I checked all addresses that I know of which is on Oakengates (WNOAK) cabinet 32 and none of them mention FTTP.

Also bare in mind that some new build postcodes which have FTTP dont appear against a cabinet on codelook at all, as the postocdes are not associated with a cabinet.

Fair enough, I assume the phone lines are all FVA then.

But certed mentioned cabinet 32, so what you said wouldn't be the case here.

But after a few moments checking the database I found at least 4 addresses where their copper lines go to cabinet 32 have FTTP available to them.

So I can say yes.

GEA-FTTP 330/30 is NOT cheaper than GEA-FTTP 80/20

At a guess you may be confusing some of the promotional pricing that has been in place for G.fast

That postcode wasn't linked to that exchange and cabinet on a certain site, well it was sort of, but not when you list the post codes for a cabinet, that's why I missed that postcode.

But not all on that postcode can get FTTP due to its not all completed yet (i.e. some are still in scope to be done).
