BTw to LLU FTTC migration

I'm due to migrate from BT Infinity 2 to TalkTalk fiber.

I'm on a stuck profile at the moment, 60000kbps caused by a HG612 modem that started to play up a few months ago. Will the move to LLU cause this to go? I only get around 56Mb throughput because of the banded profile.

Secondly, I did ask this in the TalkTalk sub forum but I didn't get a reply........I use a HG612 bridged to an Asus RT-N66u on BT. What username / password do I put in on the PPPOE screen on the Asus for TT?

There's no such thing as LLU with FTTC, all the equipment is owned by Openreach, although once it hits the headend exchange the connection will be passed from the Layer 2 Switch over to TalkTalk's backhaul network as opposed to BT Wholesale.

I think it does result in a port change at the cabinet so in essence DLM will think it's be a brand new connection. It should remove the banded profile but if the line issue that caused the banded profile is still present, expect DLM to take action.

As for the username, I'm not sure. You'd need to ask TalkTalk.

In the cabinet and as a result the routing once your traffic hits the layer 2 switch will be different.

I'm not familiar with what profiling system Sky and TalkTalk etc use on FTTC in comparrison to the BT Wholesale IP profile system.

Surely all the profiles are Openreach ones on FTTC ?

As for the initial question, I believe the OP's current port will just be reused and its virtual path beyond that rerouted.

The username and password question will have to be asked of TT, I'm not sure they have a generic one as BT Retail do.

Correct, there doesn't seem to be any profiling on TT LLU connections, be it ADSL2+ or VDSL2.

Re: username & password, on my TalkTalk Business (direct) FTTC connection , i was given the PPPoE login credentials by TTB and these simply go into the PPPoE login box on the router. You should get them in your Welcome Pack, otherwise a quick tel call should sort it.

I was the first FTTC connection on my cab according to the BT engineer who came to do my faceplate etc.

Walking past it recently I've noticed it's been upgraded to 384 lines from 288. Makes sense as to why I'm being crippled with crosstalk.

FTTC profiles yes, but the BT Wholesale IP profiling system and the calculation they use to set the IP profile from the sync is specific to BT Wholesale I assume, as they have nothing to do with TT or Sky etc.

Talktalk use the Standard DLM profile. BT use the Speed DLM profile.
The change will cause a reset and remove the banding.

The port on the DSLAM is never changed when switching ISP.
As mentioned technically there is no such thing as LLU on FTTC.
The "Local Loop" isn't unbundled and all ISP's use OpenReachs DSLAMs.

Talktalk don't use a username/password for PPP.
I think you select IPoe instead of PPPOE. There's no username/pass it automatically detects your line.

If that is the case, why when a cabinet is full are VDSL subscribers unable to switch suppliers due to the cabinet showing "waiting list"?

I'm sure when you switch to a different ISP the port is changed.
