BT checker says Im in scope of fttp now, whats changed?

so for the longest time, the fttc checker has said " not commercially viable " to upgrade to fibre ( fttc ) and when I checked today, it says this

" Your area is currently in our plans to be upgraded with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), however we follow a different design and build process for FTTP so you won't see updates at each stage. When you are able to place orders you will see the Accepting Orders message. In some instances our FTTP plans change. If this happens you will move though the journey stages normally."


why is this? what has changed?

can I find out more info anywhere?

Without knowing the area impossible to say...

Some BDUK areas are re-investing clawback and saving to go further and sometimes this is FTTP
Some commercial areas are getting FTTP due to commercial investment as part of the 2 million FTTP premises commitment

Manchester.. collyhurst exchange.. M405LX.. cabinet was never upgraded to fttc.. but i remember seeing openreach messing about a few months back.. not checker says in scope.. promising but im not getting my hopes up yet

Looks like commercial roll-out to parts of the cabinet 27 area.

As ever plans are subject to change so don't bet on it until you have a live service.

do you know reason why they'd go from fttc not commercially viable to fttp?

Probably couldn't reach the speed coverage target using Cabinet based VDSL.
