Re: Slow Wi-Fi.

Always hard to tell with online as humour can sometimes be lost...

Plenty of people with plenty of providers have found switching to alternate hardware or turning off wireless on the supplied router and buying their own wireless access point gives better access.

In terms of the HG633 I have no idea how many are in use, but if it was a significant number and there was a firm limit on its wireless speeds we would expect to be able to observe it when looking at the FTTC speed profile from all TalkTalk customers and no evidence of anything limiting a significant number of people.

It is possible that for some client devices it works really well, and this is something that wireless suffers from, i.e. some pairs of devices just get along better.

Yes I had nothing but trouble with that router.

Not to your extent, I've just looked through my historical testing...
I found it capped around 31Mbps even on internal network transfers.

Devices are MacBooks, iPhones, Lenovo windows 10 laptop all AC ready.

Thanks MrS and ukhardy07

I hope they send me another to test and it turns out to be the router its a few years old, i know its clutching at straws but i don't want to spend money on another router only to find its not the router that is the problem.

Seriously dude, just change it. You're killing time otherwise.

I have 3 of these HG633 laying around, they all suck seriously. The errors built up are literally in the millions on mine within a just few minutes in the GUI.

If you want to be totally sure, buy something on Amazon, and return it after testing e.g Netgear D6400

EDIT: You could try and persuade TalkTalk to send you a D-Link 3782, I know a few friends who have that router already. Apparently they're a little buggy too, as they are quite new and only recently came out of testing but I have no details on the specifics.

Any news on this? Did they confirm a different router is on the way?
