Unlimited Fibre 38 - max speed.

If I have an 'Unlimited Fibre 38' product and my router shows:

Upstream Downstream

Line Rate 8,272 40,035
Actual Net Data Rate: 8,247 39,973

Am I doing a little better than I might expect?

Looks about right for a 40/10 based offering. Your upstream is 2 Mbps short though wink

Vodafone sell it as Unlimited Fibre 38. It has just started working.

The 38 in the product name is taking into account the overheads, so product connection speed has a maximum of 40 Mbps, but for sales purposes they state 38 Mbps.

How about sync rate at 42Mbps and get 40Mbps capped. Or sync rate 84Mbps and get capped at 80Mbps would be nice.

As it's measuring throughput rather than a quantity it's 1,000,000.

It is the quantity of bits transferred in a second! Using 1000 rather than 1024 makes the quantity number bigger which appeals to marketers, especially hard disk manufacturers.

In broadband speeds and connection speeds 1000 is used, as does our speed test
