Stats for G.Fast have just appeared on the BT DSL checker (https://www.dslchecker.bt.com) for G.Fast at my exchange (Upton Park) but it looks like you need to almost live in the exchange for it to offer speeds above FTTC.
Stats are as follows:
VDSL Range A (Clean) 80 67.9 20 19 59 Available
VDSL Range B (Impacted) 80 55.4 20 17.1 40 Available
G.fast Range A (Clean) 69.6 52.6 12.9 10.1 42.7 Amber
G.fast Range B (Impacted) 45.7 22.4 6.5 3.4 20.8 Amber
Current ADSL stats
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15997 kbps 1022 kbps
Line Attenuation 18.5 db 10.8 db
Noise Margin 8.9 db 9.1 db
Anyone got any idea on what I might get on FTTC?

It's actually the distance to the FTTC/G.Fast cabinet that is the crucial parameter. You must be quite close to get those FTTC estimates and should get 80Mbps down, 20Mbps up. The G.Fast figures look poor, I wonder what "Amber" means, not available or a bit rubbish so don't bother.

I'm guessing "Amber" probably means almost set to go but a few bits to be done before it's fully live, those stats should improve hopefully by the time it does so, especially when you're getting top FTTC speeds.

As you are still on ADSL it probably won't have accurate results for G.Fast as they do take into account stats taken periodically from a FTTC connection.

The faster it goes, the less far it travels. The sharper the �drop off� speed wise .....
Get to around 300m from the cab and there would be no point at all.

I agree, but to get those FTTC estimates the OP must be virtually next to the FTTC cab so why are the G.Fast figures so low?

you get 15 Mb/s on ADSL? if i could get that speed i would have stayed with ADSL, cheaper than fibre and would do for me.

Min 67.9/19 Max 80/20 only way to know for sure is to put your info into bt.com and find out what the guaranteed speed is. I agree with the others, G.fast is not worth it for you

If I never had FTTP and had to fall back to FTTC and then added G.Fast on my cabinet it wouldn't be worth it either going by the FTTC stats of my cabinet shown below:

I removed the non important info like ADSL and the far right side info.
We are about 470.85m from our cabinet going the route our cables are routed, hence the low FTTC Speeds.
So assuming they added G.Fast the speed for it would be a lot slower than what we would of got via FTTC.
The way I see it, they should be working on ways to increase the speeds of lines that are slow, not to increase speeds of lines close to the cabinet that may already have a good speed.

The two aren't mutually eclusive and see no reason why Openreach shouldn't do both. Remember that BT is a business and should be free to invest its resources where it thinks it will get the best return.

Thanks for the replies. Using Google maps I'm about 140 meters from the cabinet. No idea if the wires take the most direct route as I live in a tower block (1st floor) and they are underground.

I'd have guessed at least double - you're on the borderline of 80mbit.
Still, I'd have thought any line that could manage 80 with fttc would do better with gfast. Anyone got an up to date speed/distance chart?

g.fast uses higher tones which are weaker. It has much more tones available but those tones drop off quicker over distance,
for a 67 low estimate on 'clean' you dont need to be on top of the cabinet, a line around 300-400m should get that estimate for FTTC.
Given openreach I think set a limit of 350m for g.fast I am surprised the line has g.fast marked as available as I am guessing its a bit over 350m. Have openreach decided to push it to longer distances?

It might show it as available, but may not be able to order it because of the 350m limit (also below 100Mb limit).
