add pictures

am i being thick as i cannot figure out how to add pics to posts?

You cannot. What I use is Imgur and link the picture on the post.

I use - https://postimages.org/ you do not need to register.

And I use my own server to post images and audio.

Well yes it does, other people showed what servers / providers they used and I showed another, there are loads of free or paid webhosts out there that the OP could use if they wanted to use their own.
