Checking the planning portal for that location shows it was approved in 2002 as a garage - that cabinet is potentially newer than that.

That's interesting then, because the side view on google shows that it's being used a residential extension and there is no dropped curb in place. My guess that's why it still shows a kind of door to make it look like it's a garage when it's not.

Street view shows the window has been open for 8 years! Maybe it smells a bit. The roller shutter is probably a wee stop for the local doggies.

Yes. Pretty busy for a cabinet that was initially rejected for FTTC. Passes about 650 premises and has nearly 100% FTTC take up. The cabinet on the left as you look is a 288 port Huawei, the one on the right is a Huawei extended to 384 lines, with the PCP with stand-off shell for extra tie pairs on one side and the G.fast pod on the other.

I'm sure it's not the only node that looks like that but doubt there are all that many. It's the exception rather than the rule.

You have to wonder if, perhaps, FTTP wouldn't have been a better idea than all that stuff, mind.
