I noticed over the course of the last few months I have lost around 10mb from my connection. I am not far from the cabinet (Huawei cabinet) its about 8 doors down and across the road from me and I always managed to get a decent 71mbps bit recently I only seem to be getting around 60 - 61mbps.
Just to add I switched back to BT today from TTB speeds are the same (although more consistant with BT so far)
Here are the stats from my VMG1312-B10A modem.

That attenuation figure seems to imply you are further than you suggest from the DSLAM.....
Still not good though, is the line quiet and crackle free ? Can you describe whats connected how in your property please ?
|
|
|
I will check the quiet line test.
The Zyxel is connected to the master socket and is in bridge mode connected to a Ubiquiti USG. Everything is wired to a 16 port Ubiquiti switch and house is cabled with Cat 6. There is also an extension downstairs (fitted by openreach and was the original master socket).
Posted a map of where I am in in relation to the cabinet.

To confirm openreach made an extension the master?
|
|
|
More specifically, swapped the extension and master?
If they did, depending how they did it that swap may be far from ideal for FTTC.
That said, new crosstalk seems the most likely problem.

Perhaps extension is not the correct word.
So about 2yrs ago we only had the master socket downstairs and I had the opportunity to ask the Openreach engineer if we could have the master socket upstairs instead. So he proceeded and all he said was ok your master socket is upstairs now and you can still use the box downstairs for your phone.
|
|
|
Hmmm, if you remove the faceplate on your master, does the second socket stop working (the one he said you can use for the phone)?

Yes removing that from the upstairs master the downstairs socket stops working.

I do think cross talk may be the explanation as the cabinet has recently had an extension added to it so its getting full. So I am guess with more lines enable the higher the changes of Crosstalk.
Guess there is nothing I can do for now but wait an see what happens.
63mb isn't as bad KFC with no chicken!! (only joking)

63mb isn't as bad KFC with no chicken!! (only joking) I agree there, but it may be no joke.
It is unfortunately possible that one of the better carriers in the UK could be put out of business by the compensation claim.

Looks like I have had a small bump in speed.
