Druid's Heath Cabinet 40

[link to this post]

Hi all

I've heard that there might be people here who potentially know more about upgrade plans for various cabinets.

I'm one of the unlucky sods who moved into a new build property in a Birmingham suburb which wasn't built with fibre! My connection is only running at 4mbit/s and has been for the last 3 years since we moved in frown

I've been told that we're basically promised superfast by the end of 2020, but I've not seen anything to suggest this is going to happen yet, so I'm a little worried it's still not coming our way.

Does anyone have access to any additional info regarding cab 40 off the DRUID'S HEATH exchange? I'd be extremely grateful to anyone who could share anything they have.

Hi there,

According to this and I maybe wrong, there are only 39 cabinets.

Have you checked the DSL Checker using your number or full address to confirm the cabinet? Don't use the postcode only option.

Hi there - thanks for your reply!

I have checked on that tool using my phone number and it confirmed cab 40 is correct - maybe we are just a ghost to openreach lol

Telephone Number 0121xxxxxxx on Exchange DRUIDS HEATH is served by Cabinet 40

How random in which case, using your Postcode what does this from Openreach say? 2020 seems a long way away, that's why I was wondering.

It says "We are exploring solutions" - which it has said since 2014 when the first people moved here

You have more chance of Virgin Media putting cable in than getting an upgrade from Openreach.

Then again I'm on Kings Norton exchange and we have no fibre coverage at all... and unfortunately Virgin don't perform too well frown

One of the biggest issues with Birmingham is the lack of a Broadband Delivery program.

Have a chat with Virgin Media of Google "Cable my street"

I assume your on the new-ish estate off the Monyhull Road or is there another new estate up that way now laugh

I'm on the acorns / mounts chase development off high street. You're probably right about openreach vs vm, trouble is that the council havent adopted the roads yet, so openreach are the only ones who can do anything currently because they have ducts! Hopefully vm will be allowed to use the ducts now that the government have chucked a ton of bricks at openreach.

In which case it maybe worth filling in this Openreach form and see what they say.

Some of the more experienced members, may have other ways of finding things out.
