Which cabinet is it?

[link to this post]

Dear knowledgeable people

At the end of last year, a new cabinet (cabinet 17) was placed very close to my house. On the FTTC checker, my number now shows as being linked to this cabinet.

Although this is now the case I have seen no change in line speed or condition. I had an e chat with Openreach yesterday and the operative said 'From checking this further for you, It appears that you're still connected to the fibre equipment in cabinet 6'

So my question, which is correct, is there a way of finding out if the FTTC checker information is incorrect or if the cabinet is incorrectly connected?

Or are they both correct and I can be connected to two cabinets?

I would very much appreciate any light that you may be able to shed on this.

Kind regards

Jason

Does the new cabinet have a fibre twin or is it an all in one?

If both 6 and 17 are VDSL2 enable, then there is a lengthy procedure to move people and relies on all the providers agreeing on a date for the work to take place to move the lines.

Without knowing the exchange involved hard to say much else, e.g. are some people people getting better speeds from being on 17 already

Dear Mr Saffron

The exchange is Elmswell (EAEMS).

It's an AIO, and two days ago I collared an OR engineer at the cabinet who confirmed that my copper was connected to the new cabinet 17 (the AIO).

He was there connecting a new order on the cabinet, that is what raised my concerns as to whether there might be an issue with my broadband being moved?

Is there any other information that you might need to shed a bit of light on what might be happening?

Thank you

Jason

Looking at their estimates suggests the migration has not happened, its too late to pester this week, but if you email on Monday ([email protected]) I'll pester Openreach to find out timescales or whether checker has got stuck and is showing old estimates but move has happened.

Estimates match what I'd expect for the cabinet 6 location for the premises we have listed as served by cabinet 17

Wonder what would happen if you reverted back to ADSL2+ for a month or so and then attempted to place an order for VDSL? That should then come off cabinet 17, as it is live but the migration hasnt happened yet.
