Does anybody know if there is any documented g.fast rollout?
I see cabinets being adapted both near to where I live and where I work, but they just seem to be popping up at random...

Seems to be random from a non openreach perspective but quite rapid as i've seen pods appear in Glapwell & Shirebrook, Derbyshire over the past month (annoying as my Cab is one of two on Shirebrook Exchange that doesn't have fibre, lucky sods). I've also seen them pop up all over Milton Keynes (particularly New Bradwell) along with cityfibre roadworks.

And how many of those you have seen are actually live?

Seen one between Woodville and Blackfordby, near Swadlincote in Derbyshire. No idea whether it's live or not, but the area is part of the initial rollout.

Thats CAB 21 (my old cab) not live yet
That area already has 1GBS FTTP anyway.

In my area they installed a bundle (few hundred maybe) over the last year, then switched them all on at once recently. Not sure why they do it like that.

Just the One so far, Cab 1 in glapwell.

Also are they concentrating on areas where Virgin offer faster products, or is there a genuine commitment to more widescale deployment?

Why do you think cab 1 is live?
Cab 1 is in Glapwell on the PLEASLEY exchange but no signs on checker it is live.

Well what I have seen from the Bridgeton exchange in Glasgow is that they install dozens, as much as 100 cabinets some of which are in for many months (like over eight) and then wham they all go live at once. I am not sure why they do it like that, but it's going to look horrible on the accounts because you have an asset that you have just spent money on, complete with a bunch of labour depreciating for months but not generating revenue. If that crosses you year end it's going to look even worse.

Because the go live is timed to coincide with the 10 Gbps handover links at the exchange going live

I may have mistaken it appearing on the Wholesale Address checker as it being live...

TThat area already has 1GBS FTTP anyway. Lucky them. I've never understood why that area has always got much better broadband than the Burton on Trent area which is much larger. There must be some commercial reason for it, or the District Council are much more adept at pressurising OpenReach.
Maybe there was some European regeneration money involved following the pit closures.

more adept at pressurising OpenReach Are you sure that OpenReach are providing a 1Gbps service or is it some other supplier? Gfast yes but 1Gbps fibre less certain.

I've no idea, although TBH 1Gbps fibre would surprise me since it's not the type of area where I would have thought there was a business case. It was @lockyatlrg who suggested there is 1Gbps fibre in that area.
It's mainly residential and mostly built on old industrial land although there are a few haulage/recycling type businesses around there.

Sky installed FTTP in Woodville and Midway and it went live in sept 2015. I was a trialist and had a 1GBS connection until I moved house last year, the trial is still active now and sky have no plans to upgrade or turn it off, so the currently trialists are getting 1GBS for free.

Sky installed FTTP in Woodville and Midway and it went live in sept 2015. Guess you learn something new every day. My friend who lives in the area is well behind events
