Can't migrate - Cabinet Full

[link to this post]

I was trying to sign up to BT, but they didn't offer fibre products, which was odd as i've got fibre now.

Having checked BT Wholesale ADSL checker it says there's now a waiting list....

is there any way to find out whether this is likely to take weeks or months? are they adding ports or a whole new cabinet?

It's Ashington (NEAT) exchange and cabinet 43.

Either way it's a pretty silly system that prevents migrations when at full capacity - i don't need new capacity, i just want to leave Sky!

You might want to read the article How big a pain is not being able to migrate when broadband cabinets are at capacity posted by Andrew a few days ago.

Round my way it's now 17 months and still showing as waiting list even though a second cab has been stood since the beginning of February. All Openreach can tell me is it should be commissioned by July.

I think a lot depends on whether the original cab was part of the commercial rollout because all the BDUK cabs that ran out of capacity had second cabs installed very quickly.

Probably not what you want to hear but it took Openreach ~ 3 years to increase capacity on my nearest FTTC cab (NSICL # 6). This was done by adding a second cab.

It was part of the commercial rollout.

Im hoping the existing cabinet can be expanded vs building another.

Were close to the exchange so ADSL offers 18Mbit and its a deprived area so I cant see fibre takeup being high.

I checked again this morning and it shows available again but my order with BT failed as whilst it got further than yesterday, it then decided BT Infinity wasnt available to me.

Tried to order again.

BT wholesale says its available, BT retail initially says its available and then later in the order process says only BT Broadband is available, no infinity.

A bit miffed as the current discounts expire today.

A month on and still unable to order!

I hope this isnt going to drag on and on - I dont want to have to recontract with Sky to keep costs reasonable.

The second cab on the PCP I'm connected to was finally commissioned on the 3rd May but there was fault somewhere so I wasn't able to place an order for a second line until last Friday.

Have you (as a BT Retail customer) used the BT Retail forums to try and get any help from them?

Im actually a sky customer and potential BT retail customer.

I dont think BT retail can do anything about a lack of capacity, given its managed by BT Openreach?

I asked my local BDUK group and they suggested parts were needed and theyd not be available til June, so it could be July before its fixed.
