who do i contact about changing cabinet connections

[link to this post]

Hi,
I've been informed that Fibre is available in my post code, but i'm told that i'm connected to a different cabinet to all my neighbours so can't get it. I'm on KEMPSEY cab 8 and my neighbours are on KEMPSEY cab 15, the annoying part is their are only 5 house's in my post code, the cables run from house to house, mine 75 yards from next door a continued cable from there's. I rang BT and got fobbed off saying they could do nothing,i asked someone to explain or give me a number for Openreach but again told i can't do anything to change. Any help would very much be appreciated.

Almost impossible to get the cabinet changed over. It has been done in exceptional circumstances but very, very, very rare. Don't waste energy trying to get it done - unless you have a few thousand to spare!

However, you could try ordering a totally NEW line, with new number with a caveat that it must support VDSL. If that works, move teh old number to VOIP and then cease the line.

You have 2 chances of getting this done, extremely slim and none at all.

My neighbour, who isn't 75 yards away but is the other half of a semi-detached (on a brand new build), is connected to a cabinet at the end of the street.
My line continues another 400m to a further away cabinet.

Despite our lines sharing the same ducting and my line running right past the front of the nearer cabinet, no amount of letters/emails/calls can have this changed.

It's very very common that lines aren't connected to their closest cabinet. If they moved 1 line for 1 person then everyone would want their line moving.

There are so many examples of 1 half of a street being on 1 cabinet and another half being on another cabinet. In some areas different halves of a street go to different exchanges!

So OpenReach have a pretty firm policy on no cabinet changes upon request.

The only way you will achieve this is if you approach OpenReach with a view to funding a network rearrangement. In which case I hope you have deep pockets.

In reply to a post by j0hn83:

There is a road near where I used to live where the even and odd numbered houses were on different exchanges. The even numbers benefited from being connected to a FTTC cabinet near the end of the road but the odd numbers were connected to a cabinet about 1km away.
