Exchange only lines.

This has probably been asked many times before.

My village is EO lines to the exchange in the nest village, MYBBY.

What does that site currently say for your address?
How much detail they give depends if it is FTTP or FTTC being deployed.

Your area is currently in our plans to be upgraded with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), however we follow a different design and build process for FTTP so you won't see updates at each stage. Once the engineering work is completed there is a commissioning period of up to eight weeks before an order can be placed. When you are able to place an order you will see the Accepting Orders message.

You're fortunate that it's FTTP.
The downside is there is very little in the way of updates for FTTP.
Your best bet is watching what local works goes on or checking the roadworks.org website.

I hadn't realised it was FTTP but I am not sure how that would work.

The lines come from the next village underground to an inspection chamber, they then go overhead with the power lines on poles down the village.

Many years ago BT did pull through a fibre ducting to the chamber but how do they get that to individual houses?

99% of the time the fibre will follow the same final drop as the current copper line. So if that's currently overhead via poles then the fibre will likely come via those poles.

The fact your current copper line shares poles (are you sure?) with power cables may change this, I have no idea.

I know OpenReach often use other utility companies poles, but as far as I know they never allow other utilities to use their telegraph poles.

My petition:

Force the unlock of Exchange Only Broadband lines or provide funds cover costs

Exchange only lines are those that do not have a cabinet and are usually feet from the exchange. Due to the way the lines have been configured, EO lines that go directly into the exchange (no cabinet) cannot get super fast broadband. This is not the fault of the home owner.

OFCOM will not move this forward either so the government must step in to unlock EO lines and force companies to upgrade these lines or find a solution. This affects hundreds of properties around the country, despite being in busy towns and cities, they cannot get fast broadband. The current UK broadband backend provider (openreach) must be take over the costs and be held responsible Failing this the government must set up a fund to unlock these lines in order to offer all super fast broadband.
