G.Fast Rollout in NOT yet announced areas

Is the G.Fast roll out happening in areas other than those announced?

Just noticed today two PCP's near me have had the vented Pods attached (that said I'm not on either of these cabs).

Yes. My exchange not in the trial areas are also getting pods at the moment (but not yet live).

I believe it's just out of trial now and being deployed elsewhere.

If there any kind of official rollout plan been published / leaked yet?

MY PCP is almost directly outside my house (Musselburgh Exchange) and loads of PCP's around me, but not on my Exchange have been installed so would be nice to know if G.Fast is coming.

Our area doesn't have VM and will likely fall outside of the Vodafone/CityFibre Edinburgh roll out so seems likely they'd get a good sign up rate as the only 100mbps+ option

No, there is no published rollout plan. I don't expect one either.

A few months ago they added a whole load of planned G.Fast pods to the BT Broadband Availability Checker.
That was removed shortly after, more than likely due to the thousands of emails it generates for OpenReach.

I know a number of users who were emailing OpenReach the very day these dates were published either complaining about their estimates compared to neighbours or complaining their cabinet wasn't covered.

OpenReach seem to have learnt that publishing cabinets or dates in advance just causes more queries or complaints when dates aren't met.

To be fair, I didn't expect an official one, but I know that some openreach staff subscribe to the Data Should Be Free way of thinking

The problem I am seeing just now is that OR seem to be going through these POD deployment quite quickly but BT Wholesale can't keep up and the delay is often caused by them not purchasing the final link required at the exchange quickly enough.

The Openreach L2S'es in the exchange take a while to deploy too, it's more often that in fairness.

Wholesale side, they also need to consider 10Gb port capacity so that might need new line cards etc.

These things take time!

Noticed this pop up the other day, Bampton Oxfordshire Cabinet 2. As far as i have been aware, Bampton Oxon has not been mentioned as a rollout area for GFast. We already have FTTC, and recently also had FTTP installed everywhere via Gigaclear. Perhaps this is BT trying to compete with the FTTP?

Nothing showing on the BTW ADSL checker yet however.
