Using Huawei HG612 & Netgear Router With Sky

[link to this post]

I have a friend who wishes to use a unlocked HG612 using his Netgear Nighthawk R700 with Sky fibre. Assuming the user name & password can be extracted is this possible? The guy is willing to buy an alternative router if this will improve things. I have never used Sky so I am of no help whatsoever. He is really wondering about the router settings. Any ideas will be appreciated. Paul

First step - get the Sky username and password and second is try it.

I'm not familiar with the R7000 but I do know many of the Netgear routers don't support DHCP Option 61 which is needed by Sky FTTC.

You may find the router needs DD-WRT installed to work with Sky.
