I have spoken with them on a couple of occasions and they have confirmed their terms don't allow any business use on a domestic tariff, and that they would only supply a business line to a business address. They did advise me that I'd have to speak to someone once FTTP was available to see whether they would allow a domestic line to an address that was also a business address.

Which sounds like nonsense to me.

I know a dozen people who run business's from home, have residential broadband and separate business broadband.
I know others who just run their business work over residential broadband.

Of course if you call an ISP and ask can I use a residential line for business they will say no. That doesn't mean they would instantly know if you did.

I agree that there is no practical way for them to know if it is at a residential address. But they can remove the broadband without notice if it is being used against the terms. A lot of ISP's don't care what (legal) use you put the line to, they just offer better service (lower contention, fixed IP, elevated priority etc) for business lines.

There are other companies which will provide a service over a Gigaclear connection.See I would avoid them but they might help in your situation.

Yes, I have spoken to some of them some time ago (when it looked as if we would get FTTP sooner than it now looks). Some offer fixed wireless as an interim solution, but never came back to me with an offering once they realized there was no backhaul available within a reasonable distance. Hopefully once FTTP is available (by end 2019 fingers crossed), I'll find one with a suitable offering.
