FTTP - how do I find out ?

I'm currently with EE and they don't have a FTTP product, so their website checker does not help me. It's reporting I can pnly get 38Mbps max and I'm on the 76Mbps package with them, so it's wrong anyway...

SamKnows tells me "FTTP status: Available in some areas" on my exchange, but how do I find out if my particular street can get it or, if not yet, when it's likely to be available ?

SamKnows hasn't been updating broadband availability properly for years now. My exchange has had FTTP for 4 years and still shows as having none.

edit: to add, if a single property on the exchange had FTTP then SamKnows would show it available on the exchange.

I'm sure you would have noticed if they rolled out FTTP you your property.

Oops. Sorry about the dead second link. Removed it now and just left in the primary link, which works fine.

Thanks to all for the links, which confirm I am not in an area covered by FTTP. I am looking more for some way of finding out if/when it will be available here. With FTTC there was a rollout map which gave some hope until it finally happened.

Ah, OK, I think... I'm not up on the technology, but does that mean if we have VDSL2 (aka FTTC ?) then FTTP will just arrive one day ?
EE have sent me info on their Fibre Max products, but from what I've read recently the G.Fast stuff is being overtaken by FTTP, which is what I started looking for. G.Fast isn't available here anyway. I guess I'm not likely to get FTTP anytime soon either.

You could probably pay to get FTTPod (on demand) but this is very expensive, just take a look at some of the threads on here.

Areas which already have FTTC are likely to be at the back of the queue for FTTP.

It might, it might not. Even the 2033 100% FTTP does not guarantee EE offering you FTTP, since it may be another operator such as Virgin Media.

In short it is a prediction game, where so far your town has not shown up in any of the Fibre First or G.fast announcements. But there are a lot more announcements to reach the 3 million and 6 million premises respectively.

I kicked VM last year after 20+ years a customer, terrible customer service and upload speeds that were poor to say i had 200Mbps download speed at one point,
But, I may end up going back to them as VDSL2 has not performed as well as predicted.

I'm guessing the first wave of Openreach 'Fibre First' areas (major cities) will be where we will start to see overlap of FTTC and FTTP en-masse. I imagine Openreach will prioritize those on EO lines in major city centres who will jump staright from ADSL2+ to FTTP before moving on to other areas in the same cities which already have FTTC. Time will tell!

The link works but the information supplied is not up to date. It still shows the exchange I am connected to as Market A although it was recently reclassified as Market B.

Does anyone know how Openreach are selecting areas to build FTTP ?

I would have thought it would have been interesting data if they put an 'FTTP Interest' form on their site, and that way they would have some data on people most likely to buy the product as soon as it becomes available.

So far they haven't done that so I'm wondering how are they forming their opinion of where to build?

If you knew then their competitors will pay a lot to get the formula.

As for FTTP interest, after the debacle around more registrations that people in areas back when doing the same for ADSL roll-out, interest without a firm commitment to buy are viewed as not worth much.

lets never have "interest led" rollouts ever again. Its a nice principle, but it turns into a debacle pretty quickly. Hopefully OR will now prefer using using FTTP over vdsl or g.fast.

.... and since it is CP�s that need to sell a service provided over Openreach fibre, they are the ones who ought to be pushing the punters to buy it.
