ECI cabinet modem?

[link to this post]

I was at my dads and he was using the EE latest hub which I think is a homehub bt hardware. His cabinet is a small Eci and according to the EE modem stats with his line he can get 77mbs and was synced at 74. He wants to use his own router so Ive setup him up with a huewei 3b modem and ASUS router. Ive got access to an ECI Openreach modem but wondering without g.inp would the huewei modem be the best? The other option is somehow putting the EE modem in modem mode Somehow. Any help appreciated.

I would say with a sync of 74Mbps you stand more chance of upsetting DLM by playing around to increase sync than gaining anything he would know the difference about in normal usage.

If the 3B and ASUS are working I would "think happy" smile.

Neither the Huawei nor the ECI modems are top-ranking for speed now, so unless someone comes along telling you how to put the EE router in bridge mode as the modem, as you asked about, I would leave well alone.

Edit: And with the Huawei you can at least get comprehensive stats smile. The ECI gives nothing useful.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. 200GB. Sync 70745/12295Kbps @ 600m. BQMs - IPv4 & IPv6

To add to this, experiences can vary from line to line. My lines for example, both on ECI sadly, work better with DrayTek's (which use the Lantiq chipset, similar to the ECI modem) than they do with Broadcom, less errors and I can also SNRM tweak if I wish (e.g. force a lower target SNRM than 6 dB or a higher target SNRM).
