BT Ultrafast

[link to this post]

My contract is up with my current provider so I shall be moving, looking at the current deals it looks like BT are offering Ultrafast 300 at 49.99 a mth, with a £150 mastercard, as well at £125 through topcashback.

So if all of that is taken into consideration and the 18th mth contract it actually works out cheaper than my current provider at around £35 a mth.
The deal is on until tomorrow as far as I understand.

My question is, does anyone else get BT's g.fast service? if so how do you find it, do you get any slow down at peak?

I'll possibly signing up today or tomorrow. Unless anyone knows of any better deals out there?

just been looking at the same deal and as you say after cashbacks it is a good price at last for FTTP (why they cant offer it at that price anyway??) would make more people upgrade

It isn't FTTP, it is G.Fast, still copper from the cabinet.

Yes but what does the OP say...."does anyone else get BT's g.fast service?" So in this case it is not FTTP that is being discussed.

Have had Gfast since August, speeds very good and pings are sub 5 ms.
I myself have found reliability not very good as it disconnects between 1 - 4 times a day. (Had no standard fttc).

I do not know where the OP is based, but unless they are in a relatively close proximity to London (which is where most ISPs route to) then they are unlikely to see sub-5ms.

Someone had a webserver running with their G.fast stats, and if I can recall correctly there were multiple occasions where the line would go down a few times in a single day. Seems to be a possible trend with G.fast, though fast retrains may be saving a bit of frustration as compared with previous iterations of xDSL.
