FTTP vs FTTPoD

[link to this post]

Hello all, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Some of you might have seen my old post but if not, to sum it up I could only get FTTPoD and a desktop quote was not able to be given so I gave up.

There is a brief description here however if you want to skip this just scroll past it to get to the point.

While going on a run around the tarn, about 200 meters (ish) from my home I noticed my neighbour had newer poles installed and on those poles their was a thick twisted wire going into the home (it was not electricity) I was not able to find a Fibre Manifold or what would normally be found as I didn't want to stare at them during their dinner.
I ended up asking Cerberus if their address could get FTTP and they confirmed their address was FTTP enabled but could also get FTTPoD? Whereas my address was FTTPoD only (screen shots here: https://imgur.com/a/VwYezX7 ) I did the BTW ADSL checker and both our addresses showed FTTPoD so I don't know if this means Cerberus shows FTTP because they have paid for a FTTPoD service or if BT installed FTTP for them because they cannot get an FTTC connection.

Would my FTTPoD be brought from their area where they can get FTTP or would I get a fresh new line from the Aggregation Node?

Thanks for reading,

Martyn

I didn't know if I should have made a new post for this or put it on the old post so I took a gamble (sorry if it was the wrong decision).

Need to know the address so can check what Cerberus are saying, since having WBC FTTP available and FTTP on Demand also available is a odd combination

Private message the address

Note As the FTTP roll-outs in the BDUK projects increase there is an increasing number of premises that are close to WBC FTTP but not enabled, i.e. the problem of not having a bottomless pot of cash in the BDUK projects

Got your PM smile

I think Arjun Solanki has been telling you porkies. Your neighbour only has FTTPoD available. If he had FTTPoD already installed or native FTTP available to order, the checker would show 'WBC FTTP'

What would these new lines be then? Possibly just FTTPoD?

Overhead fibre does NOT look like thick twisted wire.

Hmmm.

I got one timed 20:54 but only came to the forums just before 22:00 and saw it, and that he'd already started the thread frown.

In case people don't remember this thread I thought I would point it out.

There's also this abortive one from the end of October 2017.

Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests 35-45Mpbs down, 9-15 up.

Yes. But I was a little irritated by a PM involving a necessary reply or two resulting from the previous thread where several of us had put in considerable effort to help, then a new one an hour before this thread was started. Plus seeing in this one that he had also PM'ed baby-frogmella. Presumably before starting the thread.

On seeing the PM in this case I went naturally to look at the detail, and immediately found that an hour had been too long for him to wait for a reply frown. He's started this thread.

PMs of a technical kind by their nature demand a reply. But if an hour is too long to wait then they should not be made.

The Subject is not urgent!

Listen alright, I have asked a question as this is a forum. I PM'd you for advice on starting a new thread or not and it was no more than one line and I went ahead and started one. If you have a concern or are annoyed please either PM me about it as you already have or MrSaffron? I don't really know which way but you call me out for abusing the system but then proceed to post on the thread then PM me? If you don't like it don't get involved!

Hope you had a lovely day,

Martyn

- Please keep this in PM's now as I don't want more disruption.

Alright thank you for checking that.

Strange how Ceberus said both, as someone stated before, telling me porkies! smile

What I will do is, is place an order for the Engineer visit and see how it goes.

Thank you,

Martyn

You just dont get it, do you frown. Your PM this morning shows incredible conceit and deliberate rudeness.

That you had already received a reply to a PM to baby_frogmella and so went ahead doesnt alter the fact that you were rude in not waiting for replies from both of us. And anyone else you PMed. An hour is not a long time to wait.

As for telling me here to keep disagreements in PM, if this mornings contribution in PM is an example of such then no way! Though I can fully agree with one sentence in it. The bit where you use a word that would fall foul of the censor in the forum to describe your knowledge about anything but road bikes.

Politeness and courtesy being prime examples. I shall not read any further PMs from you so please dont send any to me in future.

RobertoS,

I am very thankful for your reply. Seeing as though you won't PM me without getting all touchy feely with your emotions we can stick to here.

1) I said the word as I was being informal as I didn't expect you to have such high emotions, my apologises.
2) I do get it and I am not trying to be rude, as I previously said in my PM, I don't know much about broadband and I am trying to gain some information.
3) Please just leave this alone now as for what I can tell anything I say is going to probably push you over the edge and make you cry, and we wouldn't want that.
4) No one else but you seems to have a problem with what I have done, was it wrong - maybe. Did I think about it at the time -no. Was it with malicious intent - absolutely not. Could you have just pm'd me and told me - yes.

What you are not getting is how pathetic you seem, you act like I have just offended you and you're entire family. I couldn't care less if I have or I haven't after the way you speak about me whereas others just want to help. As previously said I am going to ask for an Engineer visit and I will not need your input on any of my posts again as you are just simply pathetic.

I wish you the best success in 2019 and happiness with whatever you do,

Martyn
