Does this mean g.fast is on the way?

[link to this post]

Was checking out roadworks.org and noticed there is an alert for work to start tomorrow and finished the following day by BT. The notice states :-

"MJ Quinns are to install a new DSLAM cabinet and run approx. 15m of ducting and build a side pod onto existing BT cabinet"

Just thought I'd check with those that are more knowledgeably than me if this means a g.fast extension pod or could they simply be adding more capacity for FTTC?

I'm hoping this means g.fast is on the way, although my dslchecker report https://imgur.com/a/6I0iO3n suggests I'll probably only be able to get a slightly better speed than FTTC.

Currently with Uno, for some reason they are unable to tell me what they charge people on g.fast and how much it would cost to migrate to the service if it does become available.

Sounds like a 2nd FTTC cabinet to me.

I'm not aware if they need a roadworks notification for firing a G.Fast pod?

Its an interesting one,

On Codelook there is no indication that another FTTC cabinet is scheduled for Lincoln (Lincolnshire) Cab 47. If it was for another FTTC cabinet the side pod on the PCP could be for tie pairs to the new FTTC cabinet. If it was an installation of a G.fast pod then you wouldn't need 15m of ducting as the pod hangs off the side. Sadly you'll have to wait and see.

A couple cabinets near me have had similar entries on roadworks.org and it's just been a 2nd FTTC cabinet install and an extension pod on the PCP

The 5th and 6th has been and gone and never saw any work being carried out.
The post on roadworks.org has now been updated to show 4 Mar - 15 Mar as being when work is to be carried out.

Will update the post in March.

There was a recent capacity expansion on my cabinet

It showed on roadworks.org as a PCP reshell, plus digging of 17m (I think) of new ducting.

A few weeks later, the corresponding VDSL cabinet, which is about 75m further along the pavement, gained an extension which hangs off the side. That didn't appear on roadworks.org.

While this was going on, if I searched for my property by *address* rather than phone number on the wholesale checker, it said that VDSL was on "waiting list" - but if I searched by phone number it said "available" (presumably because I already have it)

It now says Available both ways.
