I work out in the middle of nowhere and just recently, I noticed Openreach up the telegraph poles ruling a new, much thinner cable. I followed it and it goes for miles. Opposite every cottage or farm along the road, the telegraph pole that crosses over to the property has a big loop of black cable hanging down it (a bit like this https://tekcymru.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/img_211... Having looked at the Openreach website it says your cabinet is live but speeds aren't as fast as we would like blah blah... But then says something about them having reviewd my area and there is a plan to increase speeds using FTTP technology.
Looking at roadworks.org, there is a village 5 minutes down the road that says there are 3 way traffic lights for Openreach because they are installing "overhead fibre". Whilst there is nothing showing on the roadworks for the road I am on, they laid cable down the whole 2 mile road in less than a day so I don't think they needed to close the road or anything.
Do you think this could be preparation for FTTP or am I getting my hopes up?
