Being moved to a new FTTC cabinet

[link to this post]

I after some advise.....we are presently approx 1.7km from the exchange with a FTTC cabinet just alongside the exchange. The present FTTC speed is pretty poor and OR are in the process of installing and commissioning a new additional AIO cabinet about 700 metres from us. Of course we all want to improve our FTTC speeds but it has been suggested that we will have to individually contact our ISP and ask them to move us to the new cabinet!
Does this sound correct and, if so, what are the correct keywords o use to get the call handler's attention?
many thanks

It should be done automatically, whoever told you that was incorrect.

Openreach will have decided which distribution points they are going migrate to the new cab and will liase with the service providers for a date to migrate all lines concerned.
The process is automatic so no end user involvement should be required.

As the others have replied, with the caveat that anyone on ADSLx would need to ask their ISP to upgrade them to FTTC if they wanted it, just as now. Given what you say about the speeds they may not have bothered at the moment.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.
