Rural FTTP self fund

[link to this post]

Hi All

Being in the sticks in the Lake District I currently have a flaky 6mbps from BT and as they have no plans to upgrade my cabinet any time soon I wondered if there are any self fund options.

Its is possible to pay a private company to run fibre to my house?

I should point out I would expect it to costs thousands and that I can afford it but that I don't know what it would costs and whether anyone out there will do it.

Do you have an option for FTTP on Demand in the DSL checker for your phone number?

Also check if there's coverage from one of the rural altnets like B4RN or Gigaclear in your area or nearby. They might be persuaded to extend.

From OpenReach, FTTPoD is the simplest option to connect a single property. Note that it will only be available to you if you're already in the footprint of FTTC, but the wholesale checker takes this into account automatically.

The other option is a Community Fibre Partnership, but you may need to club together with enough neighbours to make that worthwhile.

As quoted B4RN is not too far from you (Carnforth), A phone call to them would be worth a shot. smile
