Best to have separate SSID for 2.4 and 5GHz so you can force a device to use the faster 5GHz band where possible.

Cerberus FTTP + pfSense + Asus RT-AC67U AiMesh

Definately works on 5Ghz..

But the Android phone was showing as connected at 5Ghz but was giving 2.5Ghz speed.

(this is the laptop connecting to the, now separately named 2.5G, access point..

The plan is to switch over to Unify throught the house and office now we've got decent internet..

so hopefully this will all go away.

That should work well.

Note: on my Unifi AC Lites I was getting only about 200Mbps throughput. The problem was that the radio was defaulting to 40MHz channels (VHT40). After changing to VHT80 in the controller, wireless throughput is now >400Mbps to a local iperf3 server.

I feel like I am still in the stone age, with my 7Mbs down and 0.7Mbs up speeds for the last 5 years. However, next Monday I am cooking on gas with my new blazing FTTC BT Superfast 50Mbs service. I can feel my hair blowing in the wind already...Happy days, I hope......

For those who may not know, BT are paying my early exit fee with TalkTalk with still had a year to run.

Live every day as if it's your last. One day you will be right.
