Slowdowns from 6pm to midnight

[link to this post]

Hey guys,
So I've been having slowdown from around 6pm to midnight.
ISP say its me maxing out my line, but I'm assuring them I am not and even only had 1 PC connected to test this at one point.

Speedtest.net still shows good almost full speed 40mb, but my internal Unifi Speedtest does not and this is more accurately what I see when trying to play games or do anything in the evenings.

Speedtest results

As you can see in the above image there is clear slowdowns during these periods.
ISP is still adamant I am getting full speed, and I am adamant I am most certainly not.
Games pings go wildly high, surfing webpages takes much longer to load. Everything feels like its slow.

Lastly you can see when I download something as my latency takes a hit. It spike while the download is indeed maxing out my line. But there is no latency spikes during 6 to 12, as I am not downloading anything.

Is there any way I can prove this to the ISP that there is indeed an issue, or capping going on?

Give the TBB test a try the results and graph are very detailed - https://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest

Edit to add - Your postcode is not required (if you prefer not to add it)

Might be worth having a few good speed tests saved as well, as a benchmark.

Are you connected via wired ethernet or wirelessly?

Wireless interference can go up as the neighour's wifi networks get busier - or even when cooking their dinner in a microwave oven, which uses the same 2.4GHz band.

If your client devices are on 5GHz (802.11a) then this is less likely to be an issue: partly because there's more bandwidth, partly because fewer people have 802.11a compatible equipment, and partly because it doesn't propagate so well through walls.

I think you have have answered your own question right there. Your ISP is responsible for the speed you get upto your router/modem. So if you get full speed when using ethernet to your router, then you are getting full speed. If testing via Unifi, the speeds you see there are actually your problem and not your ISP's.

Who is your ISP? Is it Cloudscape Connect or Vodafone by any chance?

Yes, it's dire. But is that a wired connection directly to your Modem/Router and not to one of your Unifi's ?
