Broadband checker after FTTPoD install - Neighbours

[link to this post]

So I've just had FTTPoD installed which is awesome and thought I'd spread the news with my immediate neighbours and let them know they can also now order FTTP if they wish.
Checking the availability checker shows that the 4 immediate neighbours on the left have WBC FTTP available and are KCI2 Assure. The notes say FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered. Lucky neighbours smile The 5th house on the left and those directly opposite still show FTTPoD available 330Mbps. Unlucky

My question though is my neighbours on the right now show FTTPoD 1000/220 instead. why would this be different? I appreciate that they can't get the product but why does it not show 330 instead?

It depends on the cabinet their connected to. Check with http://dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.AddressOutput and see if your on different cabinets (They might be on one that supports 1gbps).

Yeah, I thought that but we're all on the same cab no.

Hi

It's not related to the cabinet of course, but what distribution point your neighbours connect back to. Presumably those neighbours not showing native FTTP weren't expected to get it?

The 330/30 to 1000/220 is probably due to some database update given FTTP is now on that street, maybe the property was looked up and updated incorrectly to native FTTP before someone set it back to FTTP on demand and the different speeds stuck, the 330/30 FTTP on Demand seems to be more a default place holder speed.

Regards

Phil

Probably just an Openreach database error. Even if they did order FTTPoD, they wouldn't be able to get more than 330/30 on BT Wholesale tails at present. AFAIK only a few CPs such as Spectrum Internet and Syscomm sell anything above 330 Mbps on FTTP/FoD but that's on their own LLU networks which is just in a few exchanges in S Wales & E Midlands.

The cabinet is not part of the FTTP network

You said it depends on the cabinet they are connected to, but it doesn't.
The cabinet you are connected to means diddly squat to the FTTPoD speeds available.

The cabinet makes zero difference to anything with FTTP/FTTPoD except that you need to be connected to an FTTC cabinet to place an FTTPoD order.

I think that whenever a database record is touched for any reason, they change FTTPoD to show the new maximum (BT Wholesale) speed of 1000/220 instead of the old maximum 330/30.
